Photos OK to edit
I see other videos and they look phenomenal, but then I go record with the same camera, and it's incredibly grainy/noisy. Am I doing something wrong with my settings?

Two videos shot with sony alpha slt-a35 (720p shows grain the best):

other guy in low light:

Thanks,
Matt

They're both grainy IMO IMHO TBQH.

Video is just a collection of still digital photos made one right after another and shown the same way, in rapid succession.

The darker portions of any digital image contain less luminosity information. The dark pixels have a very low SNR, signal-to-noise ratio. Consequently, as the image sensor heats up from being powered up for making 30 or more images a second to make the video the dark pixels see that heat as thermal noise. The brighter pixles have more signal to hide the noise.

Don't forget shot noise and amplifier noise also add to the issue.
