Very nice, but when I look at it, I keep wishing there was more at the top to see.

I like it to but i'd have liked to have seen a bit more on the bottom so the log isn't cut off.

The sky was really overcast that day, so I didnt want show too much sky and have it be overexposed.

That was my gripe too. I'll probably head back out there and get a shot where there is more bottom and shows more of the log. About the aperture...I'm not sure my reasoning behind that. I was using an 9 stop ND filter for the 1st time and was testing out different exposures with the water and liked this one the best. I have had a tendency to overexpose waterfalls with too long of an exposure and the lighting we get here, so this one worked out well imo.

Could you explain to me what the advantage or disadvantage of using a wider aperture vs a smaller in a shot like this?
I was just catering the aperture to the shutter speed having that ND filter on.

You tend to get a little diffraction at smaller apertures which can impact on the sharpness of an image. Lenses tend to be sharpest at f8-f11 and diffraction usually starts at f16 or so. It may be that you need to stop down to get the shutter speed you want though. I just noticed that a lot of your waterfall shots are at f18 or f22.

I like this too and agree regarding the framing/crop.
The layering of the background is really nice.
