Just realized how off my monitor is and I need a calibrator.

Amazon has the Spyder 3 Pro for $100 after rebate or the Spyder 3 Elite for $150 after rebate.

Is there going to be a huge benefit between the two and is it worth the $50 bucks to buy the elite.

Thanks for your input!

Unless you need to calibrate a Front Projector or if you need a color temp other than 5000K or 6500K, you can save your money

might just check since i havn't looked these up in a month or so. but doesn't one model allow calibration of just 1 mointer and the higher model allow for callabration of several moniters?

I have a projector I use for home theater but calibrating is not a huge concern to me since all I do with it is watch movies on it.

How would I know if I need a color temp other than 5000k or 6500k?

You don't, Those are the two standards used most, Uf you d oa lot of printing you would want to match what you lab uses on their monitors.

If not use 6500k If you edit with some room light , If you edit in a near dark condition use 5000k

The Spyder 3 will calibrate at temperatures other than 5K and 6.5K however IT has to suggest them. You cannot arbitrarily select the temperature you want to set it for. Actually I think there are about 3 selections but the point is that you cannot just decide what temperature you want to use. My Spyder 3 takes an ambient light measurement and then normally recommends 5800K. If I choose not to use the recommended temperature I have 2 or 3 other choices I can make and that's all.

I have two monitors and per the advice I got in This Thread they are both calibrated at 5800K. I calibrate my Samsung monitor with the Spyder 3 and my NEC monitor with the Xrite colorimeter that came with the monitor. There is a slight amount of difference between the two after calibration, as would be expected, but nothing severe so I'm content with the results.

Thanks for the input going to go with the Pro model.
