My fiance and I often sit outside listening to the stereo, a camera, a beer and a cigar for me, a little brandy for her, and we like to watch the birdfeeders. We get lots of squirrels visiting, too.

We've been "training" a particularly bold one to come closer and closer to get peanuts that we throw to it. This was my first attempt at using the live mode view from any camera (my D4) since raising it up to my eye would spook him (we have no idea if it really is a male but yesterday my neighbor named him Skippy). This was only a few feet away from me.

That’s cute!

We have a gray squirrel in our front yard. We call it Cheryl.

Greys are classed as vermin here.

Oregon has perhaps the largest squirrel in the world, the silver gray squirrel, which is classified as a big game animal. Seriously.these are quite large squirrels with some of the mature females weighing almost 3 lb (1.3 kilos) these are really big squirrels!

We also have quite a few California"gray diggers", which are widely regarded as a vermin species. I believe this is technically the California ground squirrel.
