What I see is a slavish following of the photographer's rule of thirds, which produces postcard/calendar photographs instead of actually good ones, and a sort of bland subject.
I do like the texture of the lighthouse against the texture of the sky, but I feel like this is caught between two extremes:
- two large expanses of subtly interesting texture playing off against one another
- an appealing if cliched photograph of a lighthouse and surround
It IS nice in that it's a lighthouse picture with no rocks and no water, which definitely makes it unusual and gives it a degree of interest. I think there's a potentially good photograph here someplace, but stepping away from the "how would I shoot a postcard of this thing?" approach, by quite a long ways, is necessary to find it.
