Another long lost and now found shot from New Year's 2020--when the old "normal" soon vanished as viewed now in late 2026. Remember? I usually set up a corner with ghetto lighting to shoot party guests partial to film. That year's affair channeled Weimar Berlin with lots of '20s vintage clothes, heavy kohl eyes and limited restraint. Stef caught this with her "Goth Lite" look. Sadly, this ended up being the last year we hosted these borderline bonkers things. New realities for all followed. Last of these. Thanks for looking/commenting!

Nice shot. Off the charts contrast kinda takes ahold of you when glanced at. Was there lighting behind her as well. Being as I have not ventured much into portrait work I tend to learn something everytime I see something like this.

Thanks. There's a lotta post troweled on thick here for the look I wanted. Contrast made this series. A very simple lighting rig(speedlight+small shoot-thru brolly}to save space and fuss once metered(film...remember?). My biggest goof was shooting APX100(fine grain)which I miss-loaded instead of APX400(rougher). Still fun recalling a time not so remote but so different.
Can only encourage you to shoot where and how you can, portrait-wise. Often subjects will "give" you a notable shot far better than one you've fussed setting up. Look for inspiration in cutting edge fashion/editorial work--not in online forums where people are often stuck in mile-deep grooves.
