Still life experiment on pipe

One of the first experiments on still life. Not really my cup of tea, but I'm getting involved and I really need your C&C.

Placing these items on a cloth is weird.

I know. An old wood table would have been so much better, but that's the only way I had to build a neutral/not distracting background. Thank you anyway for the comment!

I like the idea and the lighting but have to agree that the cloth is distracting. Perhaps if it had been smoothed out.

I'd like to see it from a higher angle, not strait down but a higher angle. This would make it easier to see the various objects and also make it so you can use a table as a background instead of a cloth.

okay, this might sound odd. But I like shots of cloth. I like the wrinkles, lines, shadows, texture.

could just be me. I find the color and the cloth as interesting than the objects.. The brown and blue compliment eachother as well. I know this isn't what you were looking for just saying what I see.

I tried to keep it in bokeh, but getting the right DOF was a challenge (I lost). I don't really like to blur background during processing. This picture is not processed at all (jpg out of camera).

I had several clothes and I've chosen the blue to compliment yellow and brown. So this choice was aware. But I would have shoot on wood table if that was possible.

So use a different table or find a piece of weed to put on top of the glass one.

Yes, I got the lesson of "choosing a consisten background". I think the clothes work better with diamonds & expensive clock than with pipes.
