Still struggling with LIGHTNING

I still cant seem to get a good photo, or any photo. I see alot of people shooting at night, so using a long shutter. Makes sense, i havent been able to try this yet.
But how do you take a lightning shot in day light... or is it down to luck?

Look up the zone system. You need to meter off a light and then know how much to to adjust the exposure from there. You also should start trying to shoot before it gets completely dark.

In daylight you will need an incredible amount of luck or an ND grad filter to extend your exposure times. It's much harder in daylight as you are limited by how long you can expose an image for. At night the limit is far more forgiving.
