Working with an iMac and running out of space on internal drive. Looking to move all my photos and videos to an external but want some type of RAID setup as I'm getting paranoid about losing data. Considering purchasing a Drobo 5D or the G-Technology 4TB G-Speed Q. Would probably also then backup whichever device I purchase onto an additional external drive or upload to a website for offsite protection. Any thoughts on this subject regarding which unit to purchase and as respects the subject of data protection?

Western Digital has some raid external drives that can be user's serviced and I think they use the Thunderbolt connection.
