Number 2 is great! I fell is if i was there listening to the beats

#1 - not a big fan of the tilt. Other than that, it's just some kids... Nothing bad, but noting special IMO

#2 - much better, but (I know you can't really control this) when viewing on a small screen (like my iPhone), the shirt patterns get really funky. Also there are some weird distractions like an arrow shooting out of a mans head, and a white wire on the right.

This is a great question! Here are some thoughts: Many of us started shooting B&W before there was much color. B&W was easy to process and print on your own. Color, not so easy or inexpensive. In the days before color, and when the photographic process was the advanced technology of the day, there were artists that adopted the new medium and brought with them a completely new way of seeing the world. Many of the first photographers were formally trained artists who transformed what they knew of light, composition, texture, etc into the new medium. For some, art is as much (or more) about what is not seen than what is. Perhaps this is why B&W remains captivating?

IMO, the first is just a picture of kids with nothing much besides. Lots of empty space, pretty harsh light, no real connection.

The second has more possibilities but essentially just a street shot of a strange-to-us situation with not-great composition, several centers of interest and one important foreground figure clipped.
