His artistic intent was clear from the title. Unless he's humoring us. If so, it was lost on me.

I've seen enough contemporary art to be thoroughly considerate of every single thing having the possibility of being "art."

I love and embrace the versatility and complexity of modern art and consider myself reasonably educated on the subject and think that anything can be art if it is so intended. However, taking a snapshot of a scab and calling it "Sunrise" because it possibly somewhat resembles the colour of a low sun is pushing your luck a little! There still needs to be intent, or a message to convey or even a visually pleasing result for the sake of being visually pleasing.

If there is some underlying personal meaning to it, I would probably understand and I hope Mike comes back to enlighten us; I'm very open minded about this kind of thing. But simply clicking an uncomposed shot of a semi-healed wound, giving it a vaguely whimsical name because sunrises are generally considered to be a significant spectacle, is trying a little too hard (or not hard enough, depending on your outlook!), if you ask me!
