The ripples are not frozen but where it is glass there is ice but it had just rained so there was a tiny film of water on top of the ice to give it the smooth effect.

Watch the horizon. It's not very straight.

Niforpix is pointing it out before me: they are both leaning and the water will soon run out of your photos .

The range was too much for your camara, actually, you get a seriously blown out part in the sky, and other than that the photos are quite dark, see the histogramme for the first - sharp peak on the right (highlight) and an accumulation towards the left (shadows).

That said (which can now no longer be changed), the bits of jetty showing in both (hardly to be seen) and the twig in the first are not that necessary for the composition.

Nice shots, but the old horizon is a little wonky. All you need is a little photoshop rotate and then canvas resize and you're all there!
