I don't really mind this site making tons of cash through it's various advertising, but you need to draw the line.

One of the new "Vendors" seem to enjoy posting everywhere to push their goods. They are too invasive, and take away from the forum experience. Their posts also remind me of the DealStudio spammer garbage the mods have battled for quite some time.

They have their own subsection of the forum to advertise their stuff. ALL the other vendors seem to respect this.

Why can't they?

I've noticed that, too. I've even 'reported' some as spammers/advertisers when I've failed to notice they're actually vendors.

Because if they did, they wouldn't be able to annoy you, which I'm sure was the goal from the get go.

WE ARE THE 99%... who dont enjoy spam.

as a "supporting member"... I really don't appreciate it... I think it sucks!

The moderation team is well aware of the situation and we've already informed the site admin as well. At the moment we (the mods) are moving the incorrectly placed adverts into the correct subsection as and when we find them (reports are great for giving us a notification of one).

We will also aim to ensure that supporting vendors are made more aware of the behaviour which is expected of them when becoming a supporting vendor of the site - though since we (mods) are not part of the process as such (the mods play no part in choosing/approving supporting vendors) this is something that the site admin are dealing with.

Hooray mods! Glad you're helping to moderate the aweful descisions of the site admins. I also have reported as spam some posts that I did not realize were from sponsors, because they were poorly written (put mildly), shamelessly ripping off other companies (and possibly in actual violation of copyright), and obviously underhanded. A reasonable person would conclude that this stuff is either "useless junk", or a "malicious scam", not a company to be respected for supporting the site. The admins need to not only ensure that ads stay where they belong, but also ensure that the folks they allow to advertise on the site are respectable. Doing business with the people that TPF is currently doing business only harms the reputation of this site. I've considered contributing to the site myself, since I spend so much time here, but I will never do so if the admins' practices continue to be so transparently without discretion.
