A few years ago I was in a small town in south eastern Myanmar on our way to an Allied WWII cemetery and we stopped for breakfast. The town adjoined an area of Myanmar that was controlled by a warlord and his army.
Tamadaw is the official name of the armed forces of Myanmar. Note that in rural Myanmar the sign was in English. When I went to find a better angle where no letters were obliterated by the pole, a soldier on the motorcycle noticed me, pointed at me and waved me away.
