Yep, though they also appear if I click edit post - so I tend to do that on odd appearing posts - if a stealthy image link appears - out they go

Usually you will see 6 or 8 posts right after they register.... "Great shot!", "Super image!", "Nice set!", "I like these!"..... etc. That's a big tip-off as well.

The cut and paste spammers are an odd bunch - they all post image links which fail to appear (I assume because they are .gif or the site they link them from is on a general Vbulletin block list). So they do appear odd - but yeah fast as they appear we kill them off.

Sometimes their links will appear if you QUOTE the post.

Sometime we run across the spam on our own. Mods can delete all 6 or 8 posts, report the spam to the anti-spam service, and ban the spammer with a couple of checked boxes and one final click.
When it seems appropriate (like fake drivers licenses/passports) some of us even notify the FBI and Interpol.

I was checking just the other day. There were 86 pages of banned spammers at about 41 to a page -3,526 - apparently since TPF went online.

A lot of the recent 'broken image link' type spam seems to be from China.

But, it's likely not 4am where they are.

If you notice, we have moderators spread across many time zones. IIRC, from central Europe to the west side of the North American continent, something like 17 time zones.
