Believe I would have gone with a white background to bring it all out.

Thanks for sharing and shoot well, Joe

How would that have helped? I mean, yellow on white does not stand out nearly as much as yellow on black..

I like it on the black, very subdued. ;)

Thank you. I grossly underexposed the background (my back yard) and lit the flower with my flash. Glad you like it!

To me it just pops out on white a little better, wish the dof would have been different on this one but one gets the idea. The leaves that are hidden on your image may have stood out a little more. Hey it is all subjective so it really does not matter. Thanks for sharing.

Hmmm, i guess. I prefer mine, but of course, art is subjective. I purposely darkened the leaves to lead the eye directly to the flower itself.

I too prefer the black. The white is cool, but the black just has more "pop" to my eye. Thanks for sharing.

Really..? Nothing else..?

Sunflowers are talllllll....I would definitely, definitely think about framing it as a "tall", not a horizontal. The black background is a good choice to make the yellow really "Pop!"

Thanks for that! The only reason i framed it in landscape orientation is because of the leaves underneath. But i'll definitely keep that in mind.

Jake
