Did you stack the focus at all? These are amazing man. Gj!

Nah. I've never tried stacking. And thanks.

Could you explain what "stack the focus "means? And those are some really good shots!!

Thanks Aaron.

It's a method of getting a lot of the image in focus using a small aperture. Take many images, at say F5.6, then using software you layer the images into a single file that has a large amount of the subject in focus. Google it.

The top one is confused because the wings didn't come through (if it had wings), makes the critter look spooky - DOF choice was good. The second has a top-notch background - image needed that lack of clutter to bring the fly out - the monontonous branch (geometry and both chroma and luminance) helps to bring the perfect backdrop, fly placement at left 1/3 and allowing the branch to fill the upper-right 1/3 is also good choice (in cropping?) - great image! The last one is pretty busy and a bit hard to figure out... I assume there are two and they are doing something unspeakable?

Focus is great, but i don't like the "looking down" point of view

And that was the problem with the tripod dbj. I was trying to quickly get in position and had to fight the tripod to land off four shots, and only one worth keeping.

Thanks jrice. The last one... Well, the robber fly is getting his lunch. It's the small bug on top.
