In Las Cruses NM, to the east are the Organ Mountains. This mountain range is a sharp and rugged desert type landscape with cactus and all manner of scrub brush and all the tenants of a near Sonoran desert landscape.
The mountains also separate Las Cruses from Alamogordo and White Sands Missle Range.
In the western slope of the mountains north of the highway is a NASA research facility. To the south are ranches and public open space.
On both sides, of the highway is a sight from 10 miles of yellow.. LOTS of yellow.
NO ONE even the old tymers have said, has NEVER seen these flowers before, ever in memory.
Los tres amigos....
Did I say lots of yellow....
Those are not spots on the sensor.. those are bugs!
