I think your model is too 'casual' for the concepts implied by your title. He just doesn't give me any indication that he's getting ready to go anywhere.

Put a child in his place, and I could see some deep metaphysical meanings. Alternatively, a runner getting ready to set off, someone in graduation cap and gown, someone with a backpack - all of these suggest journeys that would fit the title.

Thus the figure shouldn't attract attention they way it does.

I agree. This is my nephew. We were just casually walking around. Maybe a new title that That gives the feeling of indecision would work better.
