It's been a hot minute since I opened the camera bag. I haven't needed more than my cell phone for general snapshots, and in all honesty, I just haven't had any interesting ideas lately that would warrant waking the Fujis from their long dreamless slumber.

I give you... The Pyrex Project!


Aside from vintage sewing machines, the wife collects vintage cookware mostly consisting of Corning Ware's Pyrex. She has a number of different sets, mostly casserole dishes and mixing bowls but some sets also include refrigerator bowls.
She wanted some pictures to post to her Pyrex groups so I figured it was a good time to try and remember how to use the cameras.

ah yes... spent too much time at work documenting "bowel" and ye ole muscle memory must have kicked in.

Honestly, if I wasn't so damn lazy I would have set up some lights for this, but I just didn't want to deal with the setup and teardown.
this was just my Yougnuo Flash sitting on-camera bounced off the ceiling and some black fabric as a background.

Your use of the black background really gives the contrast to see details in the patterns. The reflection in the first jumps out at my novice eye though. I am blaming @zulu42 for giving that critique

Here's me thinking Pyrex only did clear glass dishes.

Some lovely looking crockery there and pretty well depicted too as far as I'm concerned. Always nice to see something different and what a great thing to collect.

The white glass worked brilliantly on the black background but i may try a white backdrop for the darker pieces next time.

Reflections on the stacked set were definitely a problem. Lot of shots tossed because of the flash hitting it at the wrong angle or being too strong.

I have a bunch. Regular boxes and umbrella softboxes. And umbrellas.
I just didnt feel like digging them out of the closet for this.

a pretty rare chip and dip set. golden grapes pattern on delphite blue.
hard to find with the original holder, which this set has. often they get lost and replaced with aftermarket versions or other generic holders.
