Thanks for the feedback. I upped the shadows in L4. Do you guys think this would have been a better photo with darker silhouettes?

That's the beauty of shooting in RAW and using LR. You can make a bunch of versions and see what looks best. I like the one you've got here but I might like other perspectives on the shot, too. :D

Nice photo, has balance.

It's a nice shot, I like the composition. The only thing is that the horizon is slanted, leaning to the left.

Here is a black and white conversion of the shot. Anyone care to tell me which one is better?

I prefer the black and white version. I find it seems crisper and the I prefer the feel of it.

And good job on straightening the horizon. ;)

Nice shot! The wet sand/ground (I am assuming that's what it is) behind them is a bit distracting. I would use LR4's brush adjustment to lower the exposure on that wet stuff, unless you like it, then you can just ignore me :)

Yeah, the B/W version accentuates the outlines better, but the original is good too. In any case, I think the boat in the background is taking away from the shot, which IMO should be about the couple. The only thing the boat is doing is to visually balance the shot a bit, but it seems out of place otherwise. Here's a crop that isolates the couple (I cropped to keep the sun reflection on the right). You could try other combinations, but you get my point.

sekhar, thanks for your comment. I actually put the boat in the frame in purpose as I thought it would add to the composition. I'm not very good at black and white edits, but I guess based on you guys' feedback I should try more of it. Thanks everyone!

I think that I actually prefer the original. I would level it, but that is all. I really like the way the boat balances the shot. I wish that were my wife and I in the frame.

I like the boat, too. Colour and B&W are both good. I think I prefer the colour version but I reserve the right to change my mind tomorrow. ;)
