Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
I had been looking around at bags for slr's(backpack style) and have noticed that almost every bag has a spot specifically for a tablet.

I never really thought that a tablet had much place in photography since it doesn't support photo editing or anything.(up until recently with the addition of lightroom mobile)
since i had been looking into tablets anyway I was wondering what uses it might have in photography? Im not getting an Ipad or anything so I wont have access to lightroom mobile.

One last question also. Can i have "models" sign model releases on a tablet with a stylus or would i still need to do paper releases? Thanks for any responses and sorry if this is in the wrong spot( i cant seem to place threads in the right spot for the life of me.)

Tablets can have whatever use you want in photography.

I probably wouldn't use it for the actual action of taking photos, or editing, but to answer your other questions: Yes, you can have models and clients sign releases and contracts with it.

You can also use programs like Preveal (although, that's only available on iPad) to show images to clients during image premiers.

There are lots of things that people use with tablets, creatively.

I can't speak to what other tablets can do, but I know a ton of photographers who have iPads and use them actively in their businesses. :)

Tablets are the new mobile phones, they are just bigger so need a bag and making space on camera bags for them makes them far more interesting than not having the space.

When we went to the St. Louis Airshow, I had seen some togs using an iPad as their camera. Here's one serious one trying to look at his shot in the middle of the day::mrgreen:

I like having my tablet along sometimes, when I need to I can plug a wifi adapter into the camera and then use software on the tablet to preview the images I've taken. Works a little better for spotting certain things than the smaller lcd of the camera.

It can also be very useful as a remote for a tripod mounted long exposure style shot, lets me control more than just the shutter without touching the camera.

Wifi adapter? Are you able to use a wifi adapter on any camera or just specific ones? I have never heard of that...

I use a D5200, Nikon makes an adapter that plugs into the side to give it wifi capability. The adapter is a designated as a Wu-1a I believe - some of the newer models like the D5300 have wifi built in, but mine requires an adapter to be able to use wifi and connect with the tablet:

so without the wifi adapter having a tablet wont help with the actual photography but will help with the business side. and then ofcourse being able to have people sign contracts electronically. Awesome. thanks for the help!

Anybody heard of the "Eye-fi memory card" 50 bucks for an 8 gb card with wifi adapter built in?

They basically fulfill the same function, I don't use them myself because they are pretty much standard class 10 cards (30-45 mb per sec write speed), I prefer a much faster card myself (Sandisk extreme pro, 95 mbs write speed) for shooting continuous burst. But from what I understand they pretty much do the same thing, allow you to access the camera remotely - not sure if that would apply to anything other than image preview/download though, you'd have to check with someone that uses them on exactly what their capabilities are for the eye-fi cards.

Ok thanks for the help! Ill have to do a bit of research on it.

I was shooting video of dressage rides at a 3 day Eventing show in Ocala last year all set up on a platform with tripod and HD video camera and all and it was all I could do to keep the spectators with their dang iPads and other tablets from getting in my way as they held these things up in the air taking video of the ride. They want to see what their shooting so they hold this square foot thing up in front of their face like a big flag.
