Finally got to shoot this guy with out flash. Booted Racket-tail.

Nice shot. Interesting how people shoot differently. I would have probably spot metered that white boot and filled with flash.

Thanks for the tip jcd. I'm not sure I would have time to think of that. It was about a 3 second pose. Flash even fill flash affects their feather color so I wanted a shot with out that. There is a special bird here called Multicolored Tanager . It has a light blue breast with iridescent feathers. It is nigh on impossible to avoid blowing that out even with the most minimal fill flash.
