I am still finding myself trying to fill the entire frame on my shots...unintentionally. That's another reason these are kinda dead center, I was trying to not fill the frame and leave room for future crops in post. Still just tryin' to find my groove.

Here's another I want to play with, but I have to get ready for work now, I'll try tonight. I want the focal point to be the wormy things in center of flower, so not sure what I wanna do with it yet.

Not really going for natural looking in these, so that would explain the drift. ;-)

I was thinking of putting flower on left side instead of where it is (in the 2nd one) I think you're right on that one.

Since your goal was more a commercial type of picture, I think that your decisions were correct. Looking forward to seeing the re-edits.

Try the purple flower (first one) with a white background.
but overall i think you did a great job, specially referring back to the original lol
