Thoughts? Out for a hike.

So in one week I'm going to middle Norway, which offers some of the most beautiful landscapes. For the hike I'm only planning to bring the 35mm f1.8 and the 18-105VR + some accessories.


Here are some pictures which I took last year.


This year I've been planning a longer and more hikes.
Bought a ton of new hiking gear as well, brag brag.

Even though I wouldn't count myself as a beginner on the landscape-segment of photograpy, my question to you guys is; do you have any cool techniques for landscape photography you'd like to share? :thumbs:

Hmm, doesn't seem that you have any wildlife images ... mostly landscape ... widest lens you have is a 18mm ... too bad you did not have a very wide angle lens, as you are in some nice mountainous regions.

You have a CPL filter ?

What about bear repellant or a GPS? Even a waypoint unit can be useful if you wander off trail.

Yes it is a shame that i don't have that. Want to buy the 10-20 Sigma, but since I'm soon upgrading to a FX camera it's a silly option, and i can't afford the 14-24 yet.

And yes I do! I also have ND400 which will come in handy with all the nice waterfalls and rivers around.

Haha, great stuff! Well I kinda grew up in this region so I know my way around. If it get's foggy though, I'll be ****ed. So a GPS is a good idea.
At least I will bring my cell (with gps), a map and a compass.

Bears are up North in the Pasvik Valley

I rode my Motorbike across Norway up the Swedish coast and over Lapland to Pasvik Valley then Nordkapp and down the Arctic highway, what a fantastic country but beer is too expensive :x

Haha, there are some bears down there as well, but more in Pasvik Valley. As a matter of fact I was serving as a border patrol soldier along the pasvik valley and russian border, great place but too many mosquitoes. Yes, beer is too damn expensive. Good thing is I don't like beer, or else I would be broke. Haha.

I go hiking all the time here in Korea with my camera and all I can say is dont not bring your camera's neck strap. That thing hurts all awhile.

How would you suggest I carry the camera? Any good ideas?

I'll get one of those black rapid should straps.

^^ Black Rapid is a good choice if it doesn't interfere with your hip area / backpack belt. Otherwise, I wonder about attaching it to a shoulder-strap hook, with a very short cord so it doesn't bounce too much, as an alternative.

I use a neoprene neck strap when out walking, but even with my lightweight camera, my neck still gets tired of the weight and I end up just wrapping the strap around my wrist and carrying it that way most of the time. Plus, it gets HOT, especially due to the neoprene.
