Definatly the first is the best of the set - a beauty of a shot! I don't know about the choice of black and white - I think the first works well with it, though somehow I think the latter two would work better in colour ( but then I tend to favour colour over BW most times)
Looking at the eye on the first shot I would love to see it in color. It is also my favorite shot of the series
