Thanks, Rick. I thought about that, but decided to leave it as it is because there's also quite a strong diagonal in the bottom right (repetition) and this sort of removal job in post is something I find very fiddly (PS dunce).

Thanks, Timor. I would have needed to drop back into a street opposite the tower to achieve this, and the autumn fair is on at the moment with stalls and lots of people milling around there, so it wasn't possible.

Thanks, Designer. I shot in RAW with spot metering, created a jpeg in Sigma Pro (pushing the saturation up a notch or two), sorted out the perspective in Elements, converted to B&W in Picasa using one of the yellow filters and then gave the contrast a final tweak.

No trouble at all, just lots of fun doing everything myself. With film I would only be partially responsible for the outcome: I'd choose the film, camera, lens and settings, but then the lab would take over and do the rest. Here, though, the result as seen is entirely down to me and the decisions I made. Very satisfying.

I won't be hanging up the straps on my film cameras just yet, but I am finding digital more and more rewarding....
