One of the wonderful elements in a redwood rain forest are fallen decaying logs
as all manner of other vegetation, ferns, moss, and fungi will grow out of the logs.
Here on a trail within Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, part of
Redwoods National Park, a trail makes a tight aesthetic U-turn around one
such garden at the end of a small two foot diameter log.
Midday May 24,2012 under an overcast sky with light rain showers,

And a 100% pixels crop from that same image of just the garden at the end of the log:

On my homepage is a new feature story from a 5-day trip I made to

Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park in Humboldt County, California
over the 2012 Memorial Day period. Embedded in the feature are
34 images including 14 wildflower closeups.
