Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Hopefully these types of threads are allowed. I'm new to the forum and photography for that matter. I am creating this thread for a couple reasons. First of all would be so that I can get critique on my pictures all in one place, secondly so that I can keep myself on track for regular (weekly at the minimum) updates and also that I can show myself how I am (hopefully) improving as time goes by. I am hoping that this thread will encourage me to go out and take more pictures, try new techniques and up my skills.
I just started this summer and until recently haven't played around with the camera too much. At the moment I am using a Nikon D3000 w/ Nikon 18-55 f/ 1:3.5-5.8 lens that my Mom handed down to me as she upgraded bodies. I am looking to upgrade soon, but I'll do some research before that happens.

Nothing has any editing done to them.

These few pictures are from my very first time ever using this camera. It was at a local photography club's event night called "Photography in a Box". Basically at each table there was a box with various items, fabric and a light source. You could configure each table how ever you would like and had about 10 minutes at each table before rotating. I knew literally nothing about how the settings worked other than shutter speed, so I kind of just pressed buttons. I'm not a whole lot better now, but I'm learning slowly.

I like this shot, but one thing I noticed quite a bit later was the speck of gold glitter on the left, and the stray fabric strands off the ornament are pretty distracting.

The next time I used the camera was in August during vacation. I wanted to try to capture the stars one night on the beach.

I realized after that the horizon is crooked in this shot.

I saw a few pictures on a car forum I'm on about light painting and wanted to try that. First attempt. This was harder than I expected. lol

I got a package of parts for the car and decided to take a picture of the bolts.

Welcome to the site. It's allowed to post pictures all in one thread. However, you may not get very much feedback. Typically you get more feedback by posting 1-5 images and numbering them in their own thread to get c&c.

January 1, 2014- This will be the year I learn a lot.
Nikon D7000 w/ Micro Nikkor 55mm 1:2.8 lens (my mom's). No editing.

After posting the previous macro pictures (post above this one) to a car forum that I'm, on I was given the feedback that besides the arrow pictures they were all under exposed and/or the DOF was too small and they just screamed "Macro", so I decided to try again today. My cat was in a deep sleep on the couch so I took some pictures of her. :)

Ok, thanks for the tip! I'll keep this thread going, and I'll create those 1-5 threads for the shots I think stand out above the rest of mine as they aren't very good yet.

I've been wanting to try some quicker action photography for a while, so I charged up my E-maxx and gave the transmitter to my dad and gave it a shot. Straight off the camera.

This one is just for fun with a crop.

Right after work I went out for a drive and stopped at a couple spots.

This first one was done in a little park on the river by an ice cream shop that I visit often during the summer.

This one was at a freshly built skatepark that isn't too far from the river.
