Here's another shot of 3. I also lightened it slightly. Does it seems strange without the road? It kind of just looks like a cross-section of trees without context. I dunno. Just a bunch of trees.

I really like #'s 1&2 but 3 doesn't really have a focal point. I understand that you were going with the tree theme but 3 seems like a snapshot and doesn't really fit with the other 2. IMHO.

Beutiful colors, I like how the tree in #2 look like it's pointing at something.

I've had this trouble myself recently. I was trying to take some landscapes if the turning leaves from a high vantage point in a forest but there was no well defined subject which bugged me. I gues you could say we are missing the trees for the forest.

I totally agree on number 3. I actually shot this at f/4.5 because I was not paying enough attention to detail so the DOF is pretty shallow. Something closer to f/11 may have been more appropriate. The photo does not do justice to the scene which had super tall trees on both sides of the street and the sun pouring down them. Super tough, contrasty lighting situation but I had to get a shot.

Thanks for the feedback. Still working on getting better at this game.

Limbs are cut off needlessly in the first two which detracts from the images. The edit of #3 works better for me.

I agree, try not to cut off tree limbs in the first two shots.

I really like 1 and 2, would love it during sunset or with a nice cloudy day, something to fill the blue area.

#1 cropped to get the bumper of a car out of the way. #2 cropped to level the horizon. I'll see if I can fix that.

Very interesting tree. I found it a year ago.

I'm not trying to highjack the thread, just a different view of the same subject.
I'll take it down if you would like.

It was a crappy day, that is about the best the clouds got all day.

No problem. Interesting look at the same tree from a different perspective.

i'm pretty sure i have a picture of that tree too. maybe 6 miles south of Thorton Gap? small world!
