After 15 min. staring at this picture I would say that this is a good rendition of woods but to busy. It doesn't have any "center piece" from which one can start studying this picture. Basically a dazzling cascade of lights and shadows giving a nervous feeling. Quite unlike your "Aspens".

I think the interesting part of this is the smaller trees in the center and their shadows. I'd crop the sides and top, using some of the larger trees as a frame, and crop out the sun, which in this case is just distracting. It might also help to brighten the highlights on the ground to provide more contrast with the shadows.
