I am brand-spanking new to film photography and decided to make the unreasonable purchase of a Zeiss Contax iii. The serial # dates it to 1936. It has the 5 cm 1:1.5 Lens and comes with a "watameter." I couldn't be more excited to try it out. It should be arriving Thursday. I was originally looking at a Nicca Tower Type III and the later Contax iiA, but the price was too good on this to pass up. And it's allegedly fully functional (minus the light meter), clear lens/no fungus etc.

I am likely going to need a tripod at some point and I understand these have an unusual thread size? So just wondering if anyone has recommendations of adapters or stands to look for. I'm not sure if it's necessary or not to buy a vintage tripod. Any advice is appreciated!

I believe it has a 3/8″ tripod socket. If you wanted to mount this camera onto a modern tripod, you’d need a 1/4″ converter.
