I bought an adapter and slapped my dad's old Asahi Pentax 55mm f/1.8 on my 550D and went for a walk.

Nice colours & sharp.

I have the Daddy of that lens, a Super-Takumar 55/1.8.

I was quite surprised how sharp it was even wide open though it's hard to get the focus right looking through the cropped view-finder of the 550D.

Didn't anyone tell you those old lenses won't work on modern DSLR's because they don't have all the special coatings and extra elements to prevent ghosting and flare?
I'm glad they didn't because these are some really nice pics.

I've been using my Pre-AI 50/1.4 and 135/3.5 on my D40, and really like the results.

I've seen Ron's work with those old Soviet lenses and I know even old lenses can be great ;)

It's also a nice change to focus manually and adjust the aperture with the ring on the barrel.

Great set of photos. The colours in the first one are stunning

Kind of late but I got inspired to dig out my Super Tak 55/1.8 & take a couple as the light is fading fast.

Not the best demonstration of the lens but I had the urge to try.
