Trying Street Again in Atlanta (C&C Please)

Caught these today walking around downtown. I tried a color one, since I seem to want to convert everything to BW

In the first three, it is not clear at all what you want us to look at or why it is interesting to you or what it shows.
The lack of in-focus things doesn't bother me as much as the fact that I have no idea what they are about.

The fourth one has an interesting design to it but beyond that it isn't about anything.
The design isn't enough to carry the picture.

Mhm...which focal lenght did you use for n. 3? It's a nice subject, but something makes me feel far from him.

50mm on #3 but I had to crop.

I hear you traveler ... I guess its like one of those those jokes that if it has to be explained it's not a good joke

I guess with fourth one I was looking for a sense of solitude

The first was just a trick really. At first I was just shooting the abandoned shop but then I kept noticing people trying to see what I was shooting

In the second I just noticed a little girl looking out the window at me

In the third I liked the way his posture lined up with the garbage truck

Any suggestion what I might have gone differently?

I wish i had to confidence to go out and do this kind of shooting. Im more of a hermit haha. Kudos for that! Tho not feeling these really. If your shooting people, its seems im distracted from the subjects.
As in the first the ghost front in center is distracted by the bright guy in the background.
The bright reflections in the window are distracted by the people looking at you.
The third one the bright dump truck takes away from the man in the foreground.
the fourth the bright back ground takes away from the woman.
I like the 3rd the most. I think it does tell a story they way you did it. If there was eye contact it would have made it better.

Street is often made of juxtaposition, so It's normal to have a main subject distacting or co-existing with another.
I think eye contact would have been better too, but it's just another way of telling a story.
One of my purpose this year is to shot some street photos with eye contact. I think Street doesn't have to be candid at all costs. And, indeed, it takes more courage to get an eye contact than shoting candid.

I was reading a book about R. Capa and reportage technique is most in being in a relationship with the subject than to candid take it.
