One of my students brought me tulips for Easter and , of course, I had to come home and take pictures.. This is one I really liked.

Tamiaz - If you don't mind a comment from a untrained noob. Technically, I like what you have but it is missing someting, a hint of a stem maybe. I checked out your blog and liked what you did with the fishing pics, hooks in particular.

It doesn't really have a true black, and I think that's what it could be missing. It feels a little grey right now.
But besides that it's pretty good. Maybe a little more DOF, but that's just my opinion

I'm more of a traditionalist. Tulips are all about soft pastel colors contrasted to a darkish green stem and pedals. You image just seems to miss the point of what your subject is. But since you decided on B&W, as already mentioned there is no black, just shades of grey, and the DOF just seems to shallow. However, I do like your composition.

I think the shallow depth of field would have been helped with some color. There is not enough texture in this shot to carry it in monotone.
