A shot of couple of friends over the weekend.

It's very bland, try to make it pop more. When you have two people in a portrait, try to stagger them and not have them aligned as you do here. It gives the eyes more to look at when you stagger.

Thanks for the suggestions! I tried some staggered shots, but didn't like the trade-off from using more dof- hmm. Their dresses are certainly bland, lol. I was thinking the WB was perhaps too warm if anything on this shot...

Def not to warm. What aperture were you shooting at? The background looks weird.

It was shot @ f3.5. Go figure on the bokeh- sometimes this lens (DA70mmLtd) produces really cool oof areas, and sometimes it doesn't.

try shooting at f5, sometimes a lens doesn't produce the sexiest bokeh.

FWIW, my comments are as follows:

Focus is off.
DOF is an issue at f/3.5. This may be the cause of your focus issues.
It feels underexposed to me. Their eyes are too dark.
I don't like the similarity in their outfits -- they blend together too much.
WB is a little cool.

Just my $0.02.

Thanks- that was a good critique! As this wasn't a planned/paid shoot, I had no control over their taste in attire. The patterns clash together and aren't much better by themselves, either, lol.
