As pointed out by Barb do make sure your battery is fully charged,you don't want the mirror to drop down while you are in there swabbing it.

I don't know if it's just a Nikon d80 thing, but my mirror wouldn't lock up at all unless the battery was completely charged. I was down one notch and it wouldn't do it. I have to put it in the charger.

But this was my biggest fear too!

I'll make sure both are fully charged, thanks!

They really limit what I can do in post-processing. And I haven't cleaned it once in the few years I've had it, so I guess I can't complain.
