Let me know what you guys think.

I don't like the horizontal composure in #1 but like the tilt in #2 and she's gorgeous =)

#1 she looks really pretty but I would have rather had it in portrait orientation.

#2 The tilt is not working here. This shot would have worked if it was upright and off center and also if she was smiling.

Do you guys think that having more space on the horizontal picture is better like this?

I think more dead, empty space is just as bad. This shot has about 25% woman and 75% out of focus background "stuff". I would try turning the camera so that it is framing mostly HER, using what is often called the portrait orientation, which will cause your shots to show a larger head-size and a larger face-size in each shot, along with less background. The overall result will be more-engaging portraits of this attractive lady.

Thanks everyone,

What I was going for here was the colors of the blurred background to help her eyes pop. since the color is pretty close to the same. Kind of like people who have blue eyes who wear blue shirts sort of thing. This was a pretty dark forest and we had a shoot through umbrella right next to her face on the right. This shoot was just my girlfriend and I playing around. If I were doing this for someone that wanted portraits I would have stuck to more traditional shots for sure.

I think her smiling would have been the most help.
