two questions which i couldnt find answers too about the G9

I have 2 questions lingering on my mind for a while can somebody answer them...
1)Does having a hood help in the outdoor?
2)Do i need to buy the specific .75x wide angle converter from canon or can i fix any screw in type 58mm wide angle converter?

1)Does having a hood help in the outdoor?

Use your left hand to block the sunlight if it needs to. Hood increases the size of the camera from mini to maxi, or midi. It kills the purpose of having small camera.

Up to this moment my kit lens seem doing well against the stray light. Few times I deliberately shot almost directly at objects where the sunlight coming from behind it, it handles ok.

any 58mm sized filter lens would work it's a stardard thread so you don't have to buy canon made lens in this case.

Welcome.... more info about this stuff than I can fit in my head.

That company made big bucks when the G1 and G2 first hit the market...
