Ummm pancake.......

Having a little photo competition with a few friends with one of the catogeries called pancakes! This is my first attempt at sepia so any pointers would be greatly received...

european pancakes are so much different that american pancakes for me, the photo is to cluttered and not focused enough on the pancake.. try a different angle with a cup and maybe a few roses in the background.. jsut my opinion

It's a nice scene, but the photo doesn't really "pop". I can't tell if that's a pancake on a plate or a large bowl of mashed potato. I think the culprit is the black shadows at the front of each item, they "push" the subjects away from the front of the image. Presumably, this is light through a window, try it from the other side of the table.

Too much in the photo making it look cluttered.

I think a lower angle would help this alot, and maybe a larger aperture keeping the pancakes in focus but the rest slightly out. The photo also looks a bit under exposed.
