Venus and Moon

Hello all,
This will be my first post here on the forum. I'm very new to photography. Just got a Panasonic DMC FZ5 recently and need to do a lot of learning.

Anyways, I realize this picture leaves a lot to be desired, but that's why I sought out this forum.
I've got quite a few pictures on photobucket if you wish to check them out. They are mostly of my snakes (my greatest interest), but there are some others too.

I happened to be up to see this at 5am a few days ago and it was an awesome sight. I snapped a few quick pics and this one turned out "acceptable".

Hiya, zwyatt, and welcome to ThePhotoForum.
These are not bad for first-time nighttime (or early morning dawn) pics! A tripod would come in handy should you want to go deeper into this kind of photography, but for the time being I think you may be quite happy with your capture of Venus and Moon. I like this!
