So I recently acquired a D80 (upgrade from a D40) and found out it has a bracketing feature. I went out tonight to buy a tripod and went straight to a building I've always wanted to shoot at night. I don't really understand much about photography but hey, that's what practicing is for right? So I set the bracketing up, took some shots, came home, and merged them into HDR. I tried 2 different "angles" (not really, just panned the camera a bit for the 2nd one).
I know the highlights are way too blown. Like I said, I have no idea what I'm doing. I don't really know how to edit, I don't fully understand how to read a histogram yet (a little bit), and I'm just overall a very big noob to photography. It's just something I enjoy doing and love learning as I go. I've been told I have a good eye so I just play with settings until I think a picture looks better than it did, not necessarily the best overall.
With that being said, here are the 2 I ended up coming up with. I spent a little more time on the 2nd one as far as editing goes since I tried some different settings out that I didn't touch on the first one. And excuse the power lines, there's no way around them..they built the building so close to the road
