Thanks. I think adding the museum matte effect has softened them slightly. I'm not sure there's much difference, but here they are again with the matte removed:

By the way real subjects are often overrated. Anyway, Monet seemed to think so

My reference to Monet was light-hearted and intended as a bit of a joke. Indeed my composition is in no way comparable to his masterful skill. He wasn't working with a 50mm prime or a pond not much bigger than a postage stamp, though!

That did cross my mind, too, but I liked the ripples on and reflections in the water . Thanks.

I'd crop out the bottom 20% to lose the dead leaves. The framing in the original shots compliments the shots.
