The B&W isn't working for me here. The foliage is too much of a crazy mess.

If I were taking a photo of that same statue, I think I'd be looking for ways to add interest and impact. For example, maybe wait for a low sun to cast interesting shadows, get in closer with a f/1.8 and shoot only the upper torso to get some DoF effects, shoot from a low angle to give the illusion of size, etc. etc.

Very nice tonality, but Cynicaster is right, the subject is no separated from the background too well, too many distractions. Well, statues are not walking away, so there is maybe a chance to work on it a little more.
