Nice images - close to home for me (I'm in Lethbridge). There is such a beauty in this place (and other mountain/lake regions around the world).

For #1 - are the tops of the tree branches at the very bottom intentional? I would crop them out if it were me...
I like the layering in #2

Yes, that place is beautiful! I have a third picture which I didn't put here because it was ruined by the reflection of light on the water. I didn't have a polarizing filter handy at the time

For #1, I agree with your suggestion. I had actually tried it when I was taking the picture and also on Photoshop later, but I didn't like how the land on the bottom right jutting out would have to be cropped too much to get rid of the tallest tree. There might be a middle ground though; i.e. keep the tallest tree, but get rid of the others. I'll try that out.
