Interesting photo Lew! Love the juxtoposition of the "picture of beauty" hanging on the wall in the back with the "working woman" there at her loom.

Can I ask a weird question? What did it smell like? I see so much wood and dust and fiber, etc. I bet the smell was unique.

The heat and the moisture and the dust do make some areas have their distinctive smells.
Where I was this time, fairly far high and north, it was primarily just a dusty non- specific smell. Even in dense undergrowth and trees, it was just this same smell - but this is the dry season.

Further South, where there are more trees and more humidity, sometimes the ambient smell is almost sweet and really pleasant.

Even more South, in Cambodia, the increased heat and humidity and perhaps decaying foliage oftentimes produces what I think of as the smell of the jungle.
