A small detail can make a photo. It can tell a much larger story by calling the viewers attention to the place, the mood, the action. You can highlight the detail by using a shallow depth of field, placement of the detail in the frame, zooming in tight or using a pattern to call attention to the detail. Keeping it simple and focusing in close on just a small detail can engage the viewer by making them mentally construct their own version of the rest of the scene.
Detail photos can be macros but they don't have to be. The detail can be anything that is small in size or small in relation to the background.
As always, new photos only for the weekly challenge. This one suits all locations, all types of shooters and all equipment so don't just envy or "like" everyone else's stuff - get out there and shoot!
