200 people,poor lighting and a 40 foot ceiling leaves little choice. Not all of us are Gods of Light.

How about a little advice instead of belaboring the obvious?

My advice is to state the limitations to successful shooting in your first post so the viewers are aware of what you know and are coping with - so comments can start there and you'll hear things you don't know.

As it stands this is a cute kid with a deer-in-the-headlights stare but the picture is not worth posting for comment on a photo site because all the negatives points were out of your control.
Sometimes a picture can't be made with the equipment and experience available.
Learn to recognize those occasions and learn to work with an off-camera flash, bracket and diffuser and you will avoid the almost red-eye, the pinpoint cache lights, the blown out skin texture and the under-chin shadows in this picture.
