What are 'FRIENDS' for?

Casual hookups

OK, I now have two responses from guys suggesting casual sex.

Thank you, I will wait a while until someone answers who fulfills a couple of different criteria (female, willing, sympathetic and local) (forgiving and well-off wouldn't hurt.)

But thank you guys, I am not rejecting you as people, only as sex partners.
Perhaps you two?????

What's the question? Spell it out here. What are you really asking, because I am confused???

OK.
Finally someone I can really talk to (and not those guys just cruising)
If you are a member here, you can ask another member to be your FRIEND. $friends.webp

OK, I have some; but what does that mean?
I don't get notified when they post.
There is no specific way in which my attachment to them means anything.
Derrell had told me that when I reached 1000 likes, I would get to choose two of them for a long weekend, but that turned out to be a dastardly lie, a disappointing one at that.

What are these FRIENDS for?

I'm guessing at your intentions in posting this thread but here's my response: Friends fulfill the same function as the walls on a racetrack. They serve to keep you on the track and prevent you from flying into areas where you would do harm to yourself or others. They do that job without regard to how reckless you may be driving and they are always there.
Family can also serve in this fashion although many times they are the primary reason you have your foot to the floorboard in the first place.

Note: I wrote the above before I saw your 3rd post. Now I see that you are referring to" friends" on this forum. On that subject I have no opinion but I will leave my first response anyhow because it might still apply in some way

What are TPF friends? I think they are people who decided to "friend" you, preemptively, so that when in anticipation, dread, and fear of that inevitable day when you eventually would lose a screw, and go off on a rant, that you would not royally ream them out in public.

The way I see it, the whole "Friends" thing on TPF is a form of alliance-making....you know, the way NATO countries formed an alliance...or maybe the way the European Union banded together...but then, there's that damned Euro thing....hmmm...bad analogy, the EU thing...nevermind....

ask Bitter. they seem pretty important to him.

(i too can hold a grudge)

I think the only tangible benefit is that it allows you to easily track everything they post in your feed.

OK, none of you have helped at all.

No, that won't work. If I run out of meds and get edgy, I strike out in all directions.
It's actually easier to hurt friends because they aren't on their guard.

fjrabon might actually be saying something but I don't know what he (or she) means.
What 'feed'?
How do I 'track' something?
Are my friends watching me?

And last, isn't there any easier name than 'fjrabon'? I assume it's initials and then a contraction of the last name.
I'll call you Fred.

fj is Franklin J...wait for it, wait for it...

when you click on your name in the upper left where it says "welcome, the_traveller" it should bring up a screen where the default feed is 'my activity'. This should have not only things you've posted, but also any posts made by your 'friends'.

Damn, Fred, you are right.
Now, I know.

OK, 'friends', I'm watching you.

But a lot of them are inactive.

I think I will go through my small stock of friends and, if they aren't posting any more, send them a PM about the new friendlier, funner, TPF.

Thanks again, Fred.
