In the evening, after a day of shooting, it is a wonderful thing to settle behind the computer for editing, with a drink and with web radio on.

I love pop music and classical music. But pop music is for the car. At home, I listen to classical music.

Classical music is an acquired taste. All music is, actually. It's necessary to learn music to appreciate it. Learning pop music is easy because we hear it everywhere, and the pieces are short. Everybody knows pop music. Classical music is different. The pieces are way longer, and more complex too. They take longer to learn.

Some classical music is gross (IMO) whereas some is glorious. In one's musical journey, one has to discover the composers and genres that appeal to YOU.

I used to have a pretty big CD collection. But programming those for an evening of listening was very inconvenient. Nobody wants to get up every 15 minutes to change to the next composition, but nobody wants to listen to a whole CD of (say) viola da gamba trios either. Classical music on FM radio was much better. They looked after the programming. But those stations are disappearing, or shrinking their classical segments.

So nowadays I listen to Web Radio. Internet stations are available from around the world. They do great programming, and know how to put on hours of enjoyable music. Some notable sites are:

Classical WSMR Florida

As well, there are many music station agglomerators, like Internet-Radio.com and AccuRadio.

There are lots of possibilities. Explore and enjoy.
